UX Case Study

OrthoFX Patient Portal




Business Goal:

  • Produce sales from patients that have undergone the teeth straightening treatment by providing a clear purchasing flow for retainer subscriptions.

Problem:

  • Patient has reached end of their invisible braces journey and cannot purchase retainers through their Patient Portal.

  • Patient needs to be able to choose a subscription based frequency for their retainers.

Product requirements:

  1. Patients should be able to purchase retainers products in the portal.

  2. Patient should be able to choose a recurring subscription frequency.

  3. Patient should be able to change subscription frequency after ordering.

  4. Patient should be able to cancel subscription if needed.

  5. Design User Interface system for this user flow.

Research:

  • Competitive analysis was done based on health & wellness patient dashboard user flows. 

    • Ex: Kaiser Permanente Patient Portal, Palo Alto Medical Foundation Patient Portal

  • Competitive analysis was done on subscription purchasing flows.

    • Ex: Amazon, Dollar Shave Club, Quip

Second, started creating the user journey map for ordering retainers.

Wireframing

Next, created the wireframe to solve problems stated in Product Requirements.

Prototype Testing

Based off the sketches we created a mid level design prototype for user testing process.

UI Design First Run

After user testing and compiling feedback we resulted in the high fidelity design that is implemented live.
